A practice account: what the pages say

A practice account holds virtual money. This page collects what the cTrader Copy pages, read on 6 November 2026, say about demo accounts and copying, and what a reader can and cannot learn from one. It says nothing about FxPro's demo accounts beyond the fact that no page this site read describes them.
What the pages say about demo
The help page on investing says demo accounts deal with virtual funds and can copy only free strategies, if the strategy provider allows it. Brokers assign each investor account a membership type: full membership can copy any available strategy, and demo membership can copy only free strategies. A demo strategy, marked with a blue Demo icon, is always free to copy because it deals with virtual funds only. A live strategy can be free too, but the page adds that providers charge fees on live strategies.

| Question | What the pages say |
|---|---|
| What does a demo account hold? | Virtual funds |
| What can a demo account copy? | Only free strategies, and only if the provider allows it; demo membership is the broker's setting |
| What can a live account copy? | Any available strategy, under full membership |
| Can strategies be browsed without a broker account? | Yes, on cTrader's pages; copying needs a cTrader ID and a supported account |
| Which account types can copy? | Hedging accounts, demo or live; netting accounts are not supported |
| Does FxPro's demo account follow strategies? | Not stated on any page this site read |
What can be seen without any money
Without opening any account, cTrader's pages let a reader see strategy pages and performance details. With a demo account and a free strategy, a reader can see how the platform sizes and places copied trades: the separate copy-trading account, the way the equity ratio shrinks or grows a position and the history of copied positions. The help pages describe tabs for positions, history and transactions on the copy-trading account, which is where these things appear.
What a demo cannot be assumed to show
The pages do not say whether a demo account's prices and fills match those of a live account, and this site read nothing that does. They also say a demo account can follow only free strategies. A reader who sees a free strategy copied on a demo account has not seen what a strategy with performance, management and volume fees does to a live account, because those fees are not charged on demo strategies.
The question the pages leave open
cTrader's brokers page says a demo account can copy free strategies only if the provider allows it, and that a reader may browse strategies and provider stats without copying. Whether a demo account at FxPro can follow a strategy at all is not stated on any page this site read. The broker is the party to ask, since the answer decides whether the practice route exists on that account.
What a beginner can watch for on a practice account
These are questions the help pages give a reader the means to answer, not instructions. How does a copied position's size compare with the provider's? Does anything fail to copy, and which of the listed cases (too little money, a missing instrument, lower leverage, a size limit) explains it? How long do positions stay open? Where does the equity stop loss sit against the equity curve? Each of them has a place on the copy-trading account where the page says the answer appears.
What a practice account does not remove
Real money brings costs that virtual money does not carry: fees on live strategies, the broker's charges, conversion between pesos and the account currency. The page on costs sets out the layers, and the page on pesos and dollars covers conversion. A practice run is a look at the machinery, and the pages do not present it as a forecast of a live account.

The broker this site links to
This site links to FxPro, which cTrader's list marks as a copy-enabled broker. A copied trade is a leveraged contract on a price, not ownership of anything. Read the terms before you decide anything.
