Costs in layers

A copy has more than one cost, and they come from different hands. This page lists the layers that cTrader Copy's pages name or imply, read on 6 November 2026, marks which of them have a printed figure and which have none, and works one month of the provider's fees on made-up numbers.
The first layer: the provider's fees
A provider may charge nothing, or any mix of three fees. The performance fee is a share of your net profit above the highest value your account has reached, the high-water mark. The management fee is a share of your equity per year, accrued daily whether or not there is profit. The volume fee is an amount per million of volume copied, charged on both sides of a position. The provider sets them within caps, and the Start copying button, which this site could not read, shows a strategy's own figures before you agree.
A copy's costs, one layer at a time
What each layer is, who receives it, and whether a figure for it is printed on the pages this site read. Sources: help.ctrader.com/ctrader-copy/fees-calculation and help.ctrader.com/ctrader-copy/investing-in-strategies, read on 6 November 2026.
| Layer | Who receives it | Figure printed on the pages read |
|---|---|---|
| Performance fee | The provider | Cap 40% of net profit (high-water mark) |
| Management fee | The provider | Cap 10% of equity a year, accrued daily |
| Volume fee | The provider | Cap USD 10 per million copied, per side |
| Platform commission | cTrader, out of the provider's fees | 30% of the provider's fees from 4 July 2026; no extra charge to investors |
| Commission on copied trades | The broker | Not stated as a rate; the help page's example history shows a small commission per trade |
| Spread | The broker, in the price | No figure on the pages read |
| Overnight financing | The broker | No figure on the pages read |
| Conversion between currencies | A bank, e-wallet, provider or broker | No figure on the pages read |
Reading the table
Four layers have a printed figure and four do not. The ones without a figure are the ones that the fee table on the Start copying button does not show: the broker's price margin, its commission, the cost of holding a position overnight, and the conversion between pesos and the account's currency. None of them is on the pages this site read as a rate. They are in the broker's terms, and a total cost of a copy cannot be stated from these pages.
A month of the provider's fees, on invented numbers
Invented figures, not a strategy: USD 500 allocated; performance fee 15%, management fee 2%, volume fee USD 3 per million; net profit USD 60; one lot of EURUSD quoted at 1.10 copied once and closed. The formulas are the help page's.
| Item | Arithmetic | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Performance fee | 15% of USD 60 | USD 9.00 |
| Management fee, one year | 2% of USD 500 | USD 10.00 |
| Management fee, 30 days | 10 / 365 x 30 | USD 0.82 |
| Volume fee, one lot, both sides | 1.10 x 100,000 / 1,000,000 x 3 x 2 | USD 0.66 |
| The three fees together | added | USD 10.48 |
Reading the month
On the invented numbers, the three provider fees come to USD 10.48 for a month in which the strategy made USD 60 of net profit on USD 500: USD 9.00 performance, USD 0.82 management and USD 0.66 volume. That is a share of the profit gone to fees before the broker's layers are counted. Change the profit to zero and the performance line disappears, while management and volume remain. The numbers are made up for easy arithmetic.
When the provider's fees are taken
Source: help.ctrader.com/ctrader-copy/fees-calculation, read on 6 November 2026.
| Moment | Fees charged |
|---|---|
| The 1st of each month | All fees, whatever their type |
| You stop copying | Fees due at that moment, after positions close |
| You remove funds | The fees page says all at once and in full; the investing page says a share in proportion to the amount withdrawn |
| The provider stops the strategy | All investors stop copying, positions close and unrealised fees are charged |
The platform's share
From 4 July 2026 cTrader takes a 30% commission on all fees earned by the strategy provider, deducted automatically from the provider's fees. The help page says this adds no extra charge for investors. For a reader the practical content is that the fees shown on the button are what is paid, and that the platform's share is taken out of the provider's side.
Where to see what was charged
The fees page says the applied performance and management fees appear on the copy-trading account page in the Transactions tab, the volume fee in the History tab, and the unrealised volume fee in the Positions tab. The volume columns are switched off by default and can be enabled by a right click on a column heading. A reader who copies can therefore see each charge after it is made.
